For children or teens requiring psychiatric crisis stabilization, Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center provides an acute hospitalization program. The program is designed for children and teens, ages 4 to 18 who exhibit high-risk behaviors or other psychiatric conditions that impede them from being safely maintained in a home or school environment.
Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center proudly operates a residential treatment center (RTC) for children and teens, males ages 10 to 18 and females ages 12 to 18. Four separate living units, organized by age and gender, are housed within our RTC, each with their own living areas and dedicated staff including the Clinical Director/Therapist, Unit Director, and Mental Health Technicians.
Laurel Oaks Hospital operates a 16-bed adolescent male unit for ages 12 to 18, licensed by the Alabama Department of Youth Services (DYS). Each youth has a delinquency charge, psychiatric diagnosis with intellectual disabilities or learning disorders, are in need of a highly structured setting and have a mental health diagnosis.
